I've got my own little patch in the community gardens where I'm growing
(and maybe even talking to) medicinal plants as a part of my herbology sudies.
This little spot is my personal sactuary where I can unwind, sort out my tangled thoughts, and try to find a bit of balance.
It is also my classroom.
When I'm learning about a new herb, I plant it in the plot.
Dedicating a moons cycle to getting to know my new little friend.
As I nurture and tend to the plant, nibbling its leaves and observing its growth, a unique bond is formed.
This garden to me is a place of learning, healing and profound connection.
In the later half of my adult life, I discovered herbalism. It resonated with ever fibre of my being.
Struggling with a chronic condition, I found myself drained by the relentless cycle of ailments, doctors, prescriptions and their side effects.
As I reached the brink of breaking down and began the arduous process of reassembling myself, I encountered herbalism.
Experiencing the healing power of Shinrin-yoku (Forest bathing) during a period of postpartum blues marked a transformative shift within me.
Instinctively, I sensed that Mother Nature held the answers that I sought, guiding me towards a profound and restorative path..
The path to healing my nervous system and burn out, was the same path to healing my body.
Finding my Homeostasis through learning from the original architect, Mother Nature.
I make the products by hand, from growing to harvesting, to infusing and extracting, to bottling and packaging.
It is slow herbalism.
I collect the wax direct from the bee keeper.
I buy the plants directly from generational herb farmers.
I use the highest quality organic ingredients.
I make small, seasonal batches, they are rarely the same, due to each year providing different growing conditions.
What I find most profound about growing herbs is the humbling experience offered by MotherNature.
When the conditions are not right there is no harvest., this teaches me gratitude and instills humility.

When the plants lend their healing gifts to me, I can pass it on and the bond with the plants deepens as the healing gift are shared.
The Community Garden has been a sanctuary for my growth, learning and healing. A place where I cultivate medicinal herb, not just to study but to connect deeply with. Here I find a refuge for my nervous system and a spiritual portal that grounds and nurtures my spirit.
